30/05/2014 - Sardinia is going to be the sixth round of the World Championship WRC2, and for the first time three R5 cars will be at the start.

In the Italian world event there´ll be the Ford Fiesta R5, the Citroen Ds3 R5 at its debut with the French Sébastien Chardonnet at the wheel and the Peugeot 208 T16 for the Estonian Karl Kruuda. In the lead the Ukranian driver Yuryi Protasov with 60 points, followed by the Italian Lorenzo Bertelli 56 and third with 50 points the Qatar driver Nasser Al-Attiyah (co-driven by the Italian Giovanni Bernacchini) winner of the last two events, in Portugal and Argentina. Bertelli (Ford Fiesta Rc), who finiseh fourth in Argentina, is now aiming to do well on his home event.

"Rally Italia Sardegna - says Bertelli - will be a demanding race with a tough route, and is going to be important to obtain a good result. My objective is to get on the podium, even if winning in front of the many fans who cheered for me last year and also for my friends and family. I know well Sardinia also because of the America´s Cup, and I like a lot the gravel roads of the rally. The long stage won´t be a problem, in Argentina thre was one 51 kilometers long. I´m confident and hoping to get a good result".
Another Italian protagonist in the WRC2, but in the Production Cup, is the Roman driver Max Rendina who is leading the championship with 85 points, followed by the Tuscany driver Linari, 57 and the Argentinian Alonso, 43.

"Sardinia is going to be a very important race for me -he said - I have to make my race on Linari, Alonnso and the driver from Chile Torres. They are my direct rivals in the fight for the title. I´ve disputed this race in 2009, but unfortunately I had to retire at the beginning of the rally I´m not worried about the tough route nor the long stage, most important will be finding the right pace and not make any mistake. My aim is to proceed chesing the Production title in the Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X della RalliArt Italia".
