The international visibility will be a great opportunity to promote tourism in Cagliari and Alghero. Both cities have organized several concomitant events.
31/05/2014 - Cagliari will host the starting ceremony and the first special stage. The whole Via Roma, the New York 11 settembre 2011 Seafront (from Piazza Matteotti to Piazza Deffenu) and the Harbor Area (from Molo Dogana to Molo Sant'Agostino), closed to road traffic all day long, will be the stages of several sporting and motoring events during the afternoon. There will be exhibits of vintage and American cars and motorcycles, of Vespa and custom bikes, of sports and drift cars and off-road thanks to different associations and clubs' cooperation. A part of the area will be dedicated to a new proposal: the car-sharing company of Cagliari will promote its own project, some local car dealers will show new models to be launched in June and a company that deals with nano technologies will exhibit a new prototype.

Moreover, CTM, the local public transport company, and Cagliari Calcio will be there with their info-points for the public. At 18.00 the rally cars will be lined up, giving the fans the opportunity to admire them as well as to meet the crew members. Rossettini, Pisano and Cossu from Cagliari Calcio, sporting excellence in Sardinia, a representative from Luna Rossa, which its operations are being based at Molo Sabaudo in Cagliari since February, and sailor Andrea Mura will join the Wrc drivers and co-drivers to meet people and fans.

For technical support to the teams, a light service area will be set up near the track. That also will give the public the opportunity to attend to one of the most fascinating pre-race side more closely. From 21.00 to 22.00 the special stage will be broadcasted live on Sky
(Fox Sports 2 HD channels), while RAI Sport 2 will broadcast the race slightly deferred starting at 22.30. After the competition, entertainment is expected again with a brand new and very original performance, that will totally change Via Roma: terraces will become stage, buildings' fronts scenery and streets dance floor thanks to famous international DJs from Sardinia.

In addition, the City of Cagliari wants to take this opportunity to sensitize the community, especially children and teens, about a crucial issue as road safety. In the days before the event, a series of theoretical and practical meetings (as Kart in Piazza) are planned. These events are organized by Automobil Club Italia in cooperation with FIA Institute and local schools.
