Alghero - Cagliari june 5, 2014. Rally Italia Sardegna is starting this evening from Cagliari harbor area. Starting ceremony and "Città di Cagliari" Super Special Stage will open the event at 20:00 hrs, firstly with Italian Rally Championship drivers and then with the show of the World Rally Championship. The special stage will be broadcasted live on TV by Fox Sports 2 HD at 21:00 hrs and slightly deferred by RAI Sport 2 at 22:30.

Yesterday's evening the event could live a great atmosphere when a large crowd filled Alghero seafront and harbor area up. This morning, also with lots of people to enjoy the show, shakedown opened the first day of Rally Italia Sardegna. Robert Kubica was the fastest driver on his Ford Fiesta RS and commented: "Sardinia has shown to be one of the toughest rally on WRC calendar. I am happy with my time today". Very close to the Polish driver are both Sebastien Ogier and Jari-Matti Latvala behind the wheel of VW Polo's. Kris Meeke's sixth time was the fastest on a Citroen DS3, followed by Thierry Neuville on the first Hyundai i20. Andreas Mikkelsen suffered some fuel pressure issues during the first loop and "that is why I was back in service park but then everything was fine and we are ready for Cagliari". Championship leader Yuriy Protasov and his Fiesta were the fastest among WRC2 cars, while Juan Carlos Alonso was first in Production Cup, where a close fight is expected between his, Rendina and Dettori's Mitsubishi and Linari's Subaru Impreza.

Tomorrow, Friday 6, the race will re-start from Alghero at 9:00 including eight special stages in the districts of Sassari, Nuoro e Olbia Tempio. Crews will be back in Alghero service park at 21:00 completing the first leg.
