OVER 45,000 SPECTATORS IN CAGLIARI FOR THE START OF RALLY ITALIA SARDEGNA
The competition organized by ACI has already attracted 60,000 tourists on the island for the WRC 17 special stages until Sunday
Great success for the opening of the Rally Italia Sargegna, organized by Automobile Club d'Italia. Yesterday the city centre of Cagliari, according to different estimates, hosted more than 45,000 people around the Super Special Stage route, based in the seafront area. It has been a great triumph of crowd but also a sporting and media coverage success, with 400 journalists and 195 international TV to follow the opening stage of the World Rally Championship Italian round.

"Italians' and Sardinians' passion for racing and rally is very well known - says Angelo Sticchi Damiani, ACI President -, but the large crowd seen in Cagliari gives the event a success beyond all expectations, achieved thanks to the joint efforts of all the forces that have made possible the hosting of the WRC in Cagliari: Automobile Club d'Italia and the organizers were very well supported by Regione Sardegna and its president, Francesco Pigliaru, regional Minister of Tourism Francesco Morandi, the City of Cagliari, Cagliari Port Authority, Police and Municipal Police of the city.".

The institutional cooperation extends throughout the Sardinian territory thanks to local authorities that have made possible the run of the 17 special stages since Friday up to Sunday. The event has already attracted more than 60,000 fans on the island with positive benefits for tourism, economics and all the social aspects of Sardinia.
